Welcome to Mina Lodge, Kinglassie

We are one of the smallest homes in the group and are nestled in the heart of what was, a local mining community and we have been accepted and supported by the various groups, organisations and residents' within the village.

As a team, we have worked hard to maintain or improve our grades, take pride in our home and follow regulations to ensure everyone is safe, healthy and happy. We have a great skill, our trained staff are qualified in general/adult, learning difficulties and psychiatric nursing and our carers have been trained in dementia awareness, SVQ levels 2 and 3. We also have specialised areas for carers including, continence management and oral health to name but a few.

We are also keen to share our knowledge with others so have students on placement from Fife Nursing College, Adam Smith and LDTC and are proud that the feedback from students' has been excellent.

Sam Boyd - Care Home Manager

I began my career in care in 2003, after serving 15 years in the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards. I was lucky to attend numerous courses when I first started in the sector, completing my SVQ level 3 in the first year and progressing to Senior Care in 2004. I also completed my Manual Handling Trainers course just after that and have managed to keep that up throughout the time I have been in the sector. I have also completed my SVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care and also in Leadership and Management. In 2022, I also became an Adults Support and Protection trainer. 

I was lucky enough to join Abbotsford Care in August 2022, and have enjoyed every day. I was fortunate to take on a great team of staff in the service. Our combined aim is to deliver the highest standards of care that is possible and we aim to do this by working with the residents and their families.
