Welcome to Arran House, East Wemyss
Arran House provides care for adults with learning disabilities and presentation of behaviours. Abbotsford worked with the Lynebank discharge programme in 1997 accepting adults with learning disabilities into community care facilities. Arran House provides accommodation for a maximum of 11 residents and operates as an independent social care unit with separate and individually tailored care programmes.
Arran House is co-terminus with the East Wemyss nursing home. The main design principal of the home is one of visual access. Residents are never more than one door from any room in the home therefore they have a simplified layout to learn when they moved to the home.
Ann Fairgrieve - Care Home Manager
I began my career as a care assistant in 1996 and I have been Care Home Manager since 2005. Throughout the years I have gained various qualifications including an HNC in Social Care, SVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care, Registered Managers Award, Level 4 in Management and SVQ Assessors Award. My aim is to promote family involvement with regards to all aspects of their relatives' care.
My role within the organisational focus group is to promote activity programme planning and I believe at the heart of our organisation lies the quality of staff and their commitment to their role within the workplace.
From December 2020, Janice and I took up a joint role of Care Home Management within Castle Gait Manor and together with staff, we endeavour to provide the highest quality of person centred care that we can achieve.
Janice Fraser - Care Home Manager
I have worked within the Care Sector for over 18 years in a variety of different roles and positions where I began my career in Abbotsford Kinglassie as a care assistant. Throughout my career I have had many opportunities to further develop my knowledge and enhance my vast array of skills, I took up the position of Assistant Care Manager in 2002 at Abbotsford Castle Gait Manor, where I continued working alongside Ann. Ann and I have had a very strong working relationship since we began working together in Abbotsford Kinglassie, at the start of our careers in the care sector.
Throughout my working years with the company I have achieved various qualifications which include - an HNC in Health & Social Care, SVQ level 4 in Health and Social Care, and a Level 4 in Management. I have also achieved qualifications in assessing SVQ training for staff and various other qualifications.
In my role as Care Home Manager I have learned that it is important to be flexible, kind and compassionate, patient and rational and most importantly that the residents wishes and needs are paramount. I also believe teamwork is vital to achieve the task in hand. One of the primary aims, I believe, for Abbotsford Castle Gait Manor is for staff to work together, build an excellent rapport with all residents and their family and friends.
Along with Ann our aim is to promote family involvement in the way their relatives are cared for and that, together with staff, will endeavour to provide the highest quality of person centred care that we can achieve.
