Newburgh Cubs gardening visit
Tuesday, 22 May 2018
24 members from the Newburgh Cubs came to the home on Tuesday evening to do some gardening for us. We have two rather sparse flower beds which could use a bit of attention, so they raised the money to buy flowers and garden ornaments to spruce the areas up. This activity counts towards one of their many badges.
The boys and girls arrived at 6.30pm and once divided into two groups tehy set to work. They dug, weeded and planted. Then patted down the plants and carefully watered them. Once the ornamental hedgehogs and poppry bird baths were set into place off they ran. They played tag in amongst the trees and thoroughly tired themselves out. Though when the cake and juice appeared they certainly perked up. Once in our secure gardent they set about trying to find the stones they had painted for us a year ago. They also tried to identify some of our fragrant herbs. Some of our residents came out and said hello but most watched from the dining room windows in the warm!
