Oh What a night! Star Awards 2016

Friday, 22 January 2016

What a night the 22nd January turned out to be! Staff from Castle Gait Manor stepped into their glad rags, put their lipstick on and made it a night to remember at the annual Star Awards.

The event was held at the Bay Hotel in Kinghorn and everyone was entertained by DJ Steve, he made sure there was plenty choice of tunes and Cher even stopped by for a few songs and got everyone up on the dance floor.

The Star Awards is always a chance for staff to let their hair down and enjoy themselves, a complimentary meal is provided and there is plenty awards up for grabs on the evening. In amongst this, there is plenty opportunity for staff from all Abbotsford sites to get together and catch up.

This year the Manor nominated who they thought best deserved an award - these nominations included; Suzanne Arbuckle for 'Newcomer of the Year' Suzanne was nominated because of he eagerness to learn new skills and her friendly and outgoing approach. Pete Bennie was nominated as 'Handyman of the Year' Pete started at the Manor back in August and he has already made a huge improvement to our garden areas and is always keen to top up any painting that needs done, Pete is a true gentleman and will help the residents and staff with their shopping bags etc.

Lali Ouseph was nominated for 'Nurse of the Year' because of her attention to details and her professional approach, whilst Stephanie Thomson was nominated for 'Carer of the Year' Stephanie is a very compassionate, caring and patient individual who will always go above and beyond her role to help the residents and ensure they receive the best possible care. Margo Beckwith was up for the award of 'Housekeeper of the Year' due to Margo's flexible approach and willingness to work a dual role as a housekeeping assistant and a care assistant.

Last but not least was our Cook Cathy Leslie, who was nominated for the 'Cook of the Year' award. Cathy has been a welcome addition to our team here at East Wemyss and her impressive culinary skills always has everyone's mouth watering. On the evening Cathy scooped the prize for Cook of the Year which was thoroughly deserved, she won £100 and a lovely glass Trophy and bouquet of flowers. Cathy was over the moon that she won and we would like to take this opportunity to congratulate her again on her achievement and all the other winners from across the other Abbotsford sites - well done to everyone!
