Fine Dining Competition 2015

Thursday, 29 October 2015

Our two Cook's from Castle Gait Manor, along with lots of help from staff and residents and the local community participated in the NAPA Fine Dining Experience Competition back in July of this year.

The aim of the competition was to create a unique and memorable occasion for those who attended by hosting a dinner party, with a maximum of 10 guests, 2 of which were to be from the local community.

Pictured is our cook's – Gina McCabe and Cathy Leslie and two of our residents, Jean Muirhead and Ella Clunie with the certificates we received this week, congratulating us on making it into the top 20 entries in this year's challenge out of thousands of entries.

On Thursday the 16th of July, our cook's Gina McCabe and Cathy Leslie treated 10 guests to a fantastic fine dining experience as part of a national Competition. They ensured residents were involved with the set-up of the meal and the evening, some residents assisted with setting the table, while another resident served canapes and took on a role of a waiter, ensuring there was never an empty glass!

The local hairdresser Kelly Nicholson invited our female residents who were attending the event to have their hair styled at her salon at no cost, in preparation for the big event – Kelly was one of our special guests from the local community who was invited along, as was MSP David Torrance.

We were lucky enough to make it into the top 20 entries in this year's challenge and made the shortlist out of thousands of entries. We are very proud of our efforts and were thankful to everyone who helped along the way. We have some photos of the preparations before the event, and during the event as well as residents Ella Clunie and Jean Muirhead along with cooks Cathy Leslie and Gina McCabe receiving their certificates for making the top 20 entries.

The team and residents at the Manor already have their thinking caps firmly on for their entry for 2016!
